Venue Spec for Star Camp Cape Town 2007
Overview
The venue must preferably be one offered by someone who is interested in *Camp, who can offer it for free, and who is going to attend.
Location
Preference will be given to venues that are somewhat central, that are not particularly far from the various parts of Cape Town.
In addition, if the venue can't provide open and fast Internet connectivity itself, it should be within the Amobia coverage area and be willing to have a wireless antenna mounted, or should be willing to deal with Telkom to get ADSL line(s) installed.
Venue facilities
Parking
Preference will be given to venues that have secure parking.
Security
Preference will be given to venues that have facilities that lock up well, that already have security features (like guards and gates), and so forth.
Facilities
Requirements
- A 70-100 person hall, preferably flat and empty (ie, no desks, &c.) - the idea is that chairs/tables can be arranged in an ad-hoc fashion depending on the requirements of particular talks/events/&c.
Preferences
- One or two 40-person break-away rooms (can be a lecture theatre or a classroom)
- One flat, empty room (for the Games Room), at least 6x5m
- A separate room for eating (can just use the hall otherwise)
- Kitchen facilities (fridge, microwave, coffee, and so forth)
- One or two 25-person rooms suitable for having computers setup in the room for tutorials. (We can provide our own computers.)
